New Millennium Hong Kong

A view of Ocean Park with the South China Sea spreading out behind it.

Ocean Park is unique in that it is several attractions in one park. It sits on the south side of Hong Kong island and offers a little bit of everything. If you come in by bus and take what I would consider the back entrance to the park. There is a mock Chinese village where it tells some history of China.  There are also some cannons dating back to the British occupancy in the 19th century along with an old Earth Quake Sensor from China. Then, you'll take a long escalator ride up the side of the mountain where you can catch some magnificent views and reach the amusement park area. Here you have a couple of roller coasters that streak off the side of the mountain, Ferris Wheel, Power Tower, and some smaller "county fair" type rides. After spending some time there, you'll want to head off to the sea life exhibits. They have large aquariums that you can walk under that are filled with sharks, manta rays and all sorts of sea life. Once you take in one of the seal and dolphin shows, you'll head down the cable cars to the beginning of the park. This ride coming down the side of the mountain offers panoramic views of the area and Repulse Bay in the slight distance. After reaching the bottom there are some shops and the area where the Giant Pandas are. Ocean Park is a must see for anyone visiting Hong Kong.
